We love the idea of transforming your living space with the timeless allure of indigo textiles. These versatile accents are the perfect way to effortlessly elevate your home decor. Crafted from vintage tapestries, these indigo-dyed treasures transform into pillows, throw blankets, storage, and more. Each piece is a unique surprise of design and shade, which embraces the authentic beauty of the indigo dye process.
To create a cohesive look, mix and match patterns by combining pillows with complementary designs, adding depth and visual interest to your space. Don't shy away from layering – introduce different textures and sizes of indigo pillows to effortlessly infuse warmth and comfort. For a chic and modern look, contrast indigo against clean lines, like our striped pillows, creating a sophisticated ambiance.
For a bold and statement-making approach to indigo home decor, opt for a single large lumbar throw pillow. This oversized beauty is sure to become the focal point of any room. Place it proudly on your sofa or bed to infuse the space with a dose of sophisticated style. The simplicity of a singular, large indigo lumbar pillow effortlessly communicates a refined taste, making it the perfect choice for those seeking an impactful yet minimalist touch.
When incorporating a single indigo throw, consider placing it as a focal point on a neutral sofa or bed, instantly injecting a pop of rich color. Alternatively, enhance the coziness of your living space by layering with pillows. Drape our sherpa throw over your sofa, then mix and match coordinating pillows for a beautiful blend of comfort and style.

Pillows are essentially the grown up equivalent to stuffed animals and our large lumbar pillows style perfectly on a bed as a standalone standout.
Thank you for choosing to shop with Everand this season and to continue to give back with your purchases.
Checks are a great base layer that can be kept neutral, and anything but boring. While black and white may feel classic, our terracotta and dusty blue checkered pillows come in a vintage inspired palette that make for an easy fall update.
The checkered pattern works with so many of our textiles but we love how it pairs with organic florals. Allow yourself to be playful and you’ll find just how easy this pattern is to style with what you already have.
We'd like to think we know a thing or two about mixing and matching pillows. We sampled many colors and played around with the scale of our check in order to narrow it down to what worked best. In the process, we had a light-bulb moment and decided to offer our checkered pillows as double-sided, with each side in a different scale. The two pattern scales make it even easier to style into your existing decor - just pick which side works best and show it off! We can't wait for you to CHECK out these pillows. Ask us a question or let us know what you think in the comments below.
]]>“With a record number of people forced to flee their homes, the international community must work together to give refugees more hope and more opportunities while they are away from home. The most effective way to support refugees is by including them in the communities where they have found safety — this means ensuring they can apply for jobs, enroll in schools and access services like housing and healthcare. Inclusion paves the way for long-term solutions for refugees and displaced people, allowing them to thrive in a new country or preparing them for a safe return to their home countries.” - USA for UNHCR
Our mission to support refugee women who are resettling in Chicago came to life as a result of our partnership with RefugeeOne. It was through that partnership we were introduced to Judith - one of the millions of refugees who have been forced to leave their homes in search of peace and safety. Judith was the very first to sew Everand pillows and is now, 4 years later, our primary seamstress and has made most of what you have in your home.
As Everand continues to grow, we’ve created a new partnership with Re:new Project in Glen Ellyn, IL. As a non-profit organization serving refugee women, Re:new’s studio offers ESL and free sewing classes as well as the opportunity to gain employment to create and sew beautiful handmade goods.
What started as a way to support refugee women has blossomed into a network of meaningful connections with other organizations and small businesses committed to creating lasting change locally. As Everand has grown, our mission has expanded and evolved with the needs of the community we care so deeply for.
In 2020, during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, when so many of us felt disconnected, we knew we needed to mobilize our community to make a difference. Through our masks campaign, we provided masks to healthcare workers while keeping refugee women employed. Thanks to a joint effort between the Everand community and our seamstresses, we donated over 350 masks to local hospitals, along with notes of well wishes and thank yous to healthcare workers.
More recently, we teamed up with Humble Design Chicago - a non-profit organization that works to change lives by custom designing and fully furnishing home interiors for those emerging from homelessness. Through this partnership, we were able to use your purchases to donate pillows, which will be used to decorate the homes of local families transitioning out of homelessness.
In addition to our beloved partnerships here in the US, your purchases always support artisans around the world through the sustainably sourced fabrics used to make all of our home decor. Whether working directly with a small family business in India or scouring US markets where vendors showcase textiles made abroad, each of our fabrics is uniquely handmade. We share the story of each fabric in the descriptions of each of our products, which showcase the origin of each textile used, often using ancient techniques passed down from artisan to artisan over generations.
As we honor World Refugee Day, join us in making a life-changing difference in the world by including refugees in our workplaces and beyond.
]]>Your bedroom should be your retreat from a busy day. Many of the trends we’re seeing this year in interior design are ultimately about creating dedicated spaces for self-care. Thinking of your bedroom as an oasis will absolutely transform the way you approach rest and relaxation.
Cultivating an oasis in your bedroom doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are 5 simple upgrades to turn your resting place into a relaxing haven.
Think of the current colors in your bedroom. How do those colors make you feel? The first step in turning your bedroom into an oasis is creating a clean slate. Focus on soothing colors to bring peace into your space.
Colors have an impact on us, even if it’s subconscious. Not sure where to start? Bring your bedroom into sacred territory when you implement these tips:
There’s something to be said about the healing power of nature, and science has our back on this. Bringing the outdoors in might lead to improved mood, lower blood pressure, and better sleep. There are endless ways to incorporate nature into your home, but here are two of our favorite simple options for creating an indoor sanctuary.
Floral prints are a returning trend in interior design. Whether you implement floral prints with throw pillows or create a floral wallpapered accent wall, you can’t go wrong with floral prints. Your bedroom, your rules.
Soften high-traffic areas like bookshelves, dressers, or entryways with a cluster of greenery for added peace. Houseplants are an easy way to add some nature into your space, but adding a pop of greenery to your bedroom doesn’t have to be limited to traditional houseplants. Consider air plants, fresh herbs, lavender, or succulents as a nod to nature’s beautiful gift of calm. Our plant pouches are perfect for displaying your greenery while hiding the harshly colored plastic pots they often come in.
The life-changing, soul-charging power of a good declutter session should never be underestimated. Your bedroom will become an even more sacred oasis when it’s free of clutter, and you have systems in place to keep you organized.
You don’t have to be a minimalist to have a bedroom that exudes peace and calm. Your home, including your bedroom, should be a space that works for you, but without any unnecessary things that will add to your stress. Go through your closets, nightstands, and drawers, and consider donating what you don’t use.
You may not even realize how those unsightly cords throw off the vibes of your space until they’re all nicely tucked away. There are some creative ideas out there for hiding wires and cables. Some of our favorite inventions are cord closures and luxe fabric boxes. Tuck wires away from sight to create an uninterrupted view of space.
Nightstands inevitably become a catch-all for everyday necessities (or a massive stack of books). Keeping your side table organized is an oasis must. Removing the clutter from your peripheral vision just may help you sleep better! One of our favorite side-table accessories is our coasters. They’re a great way to add a soft, personal touch to your bedside table.
This one might almost feel too easy, but it works. Develop this daily habit, and your bedroom will instantly feel more like a sanctuary. It has everything to do with your morning starting off on a positive note. The day may fall apart, but at least you have a beautifully made bed to catch you at the end of the day.
You’ll be even more inclined to make your bed every day if you add some personality to your bedding. Mix and match hues, textures, and patterns, add vibrant colored accent pillows, or accenting with luxuriously textured throw blankets for a personalized oasis that speaks your exact love language.
Throw blankets will be back in Fall 2023, so make sure you’re following us on social media to be the first to know when they’re available again
Don't be afraid to try unique combinations to elevate your bedroom decor and create a dreamy bedroom oasis. Say goodbye to bland bedding and hello to a beautifully decorated bedroom. It's so easy to breathe new life into your sleeping space by choosing a few special accents.
Calm doesn’t have to mean devoid of color or personality. Your bedroom oasis should still feel like an extension of the essence of who you are. Our newest collection is the perfect way to put your personality on display in a tangible way. Fun-loving and outgoing? Add a pop of bright color to your neutral haven with our coral and blue Baoule throw pillows.
Incorporating meaningful, sustainable decor is another way to add a personal touch while still bringing a sense of peace to your bedroom. If you’re aiming for a calming environment, we recommend you pick a few truly meaningful pieces to add to your space.
Filling your bedroom oasis with decor that will inspire you and help you connect with your best self. Each of our decor pieces tells the story of the fabrics and the women who sew them. The sentimental touch is what makes a house a home, after all.
It’s time you take the rest you deserve and prioritize creating your bedroom oasis. Taking time to cultivate a space that brings you joy, inspires you, and helps you feel connected to yourself and those you love is one of the most self-loving things you can do.
If you’re ready to turn your bedroom into a space of peace, updating your throw pillows is the perfect way to get started. Check out our new Cultural Abode collection for inspiration.

The Solids Collection is about building a foundation in your home decor through sustainable and timeless staples. With that we are reminded of the importance of our mission to support refugee women as they rebuild the foundation that defines their new home in the US. Our newest partner, Re:new Project, does just that by providing dignified work and a sense of community to the refugee women they employ. We knew after our first visit to Re:new's studio that they were the perfect partner to sew this collection.

Re:new Project is a nonprofit organization that serves refugee women resettled in the Chicagoland area. They offer free sewing and ESL classes in their Glen Ellyn, IL studio and graduates of these programs can gain employment to create and sew beautiful handmade goods. There they sew gorgeous bags, pouches and fashion accessories directly through the storefront located in the front of the studio. It was evident from the moment we stepped into the studio and met these women that this was a positive space where hard work took place but also joy and bonding.

]]>Trends have the potential to delight and inspire us. Done well, embracing a trending style in your home decor has the ability to make your house feel fresh and new without the need to make huge changes. After scouring the internet, we've narrowed down 9 of our favorite home decor trends for 2023 that you can easily incorporate into your interior.
As much as trends come and go, it is most important to keep the context in mind and design your space to reflect your tastes rather than what is popular. Your home should be a reflection of you.
While we believe these trends will stand the test of time, lasting far longer than a few months, it can be overwhelming to feel the need to constantly update your home with each new trend. We invite you to focus on the home decor trends that resonate with you and leave those that don't.
A classic is a timeless decor or design that goes beyond trendiness. Classics often float in and out of popularity. You might even see a few home decor trends on this list that are just comeback classics!
Balancing classic design is a great way to avoid being overly trendy and ending up with an entire room that no longer suits your style or what’s popular. We recommend sticking to classically designed pieces you love for larger, more expensive home decor items, like couches or beds, and decorating with trends using easy-to-update items, like shelf decor or vases. For example, our pillow covers can easily be swapped out for the season or to reflect current trends.
Say goodbye to the all-white everything trend and welcome back color in 2023. Earthy-inspired interiors, including shades of pink such as mauve, peach, and coral for a more feminine touch, or browns, taupes, and creams for a warm, earthy look, will all dominate design this year.
In addition to earth-toned color palettes, expect to see many earthy elements. Warm woods, natural stone, metals, and even nature-inspired prints and design elements.
Keeping with the departure from the all-white or gray interiors, bright, colorful spaces will be big in 2023. This trend focuses on incorporating bold colors, as well as mixing and matching patterns and textures that reflect the personality of the inhabitants.
You may see a focus on deep, richer tones layered into spaces, especially jewel tones like bold blues, magentas, reds, and greens making an appearance.
If this interior design style isn't for you, try a toned-down version by adding a few pops of colors instead. Colorful pillows or throws are perfect for anyone who wants to add a little extra color without fully renovating.
Dark academia is a term used to describe a style of interior design that incorporates elements of traditional academic style. This relatively new trend rose to popularity thanks to social media and is now influencing home decorating trends. It is characterized by a focus on classic, scholarly motifs such as antique bookcases, vintage globes, and library-like furnishings. The overall aesthetic is one of sophistication, elegance, and romance.
To achieve this interior design style, consider incorporating antique fabrics into your home decor to create a cozy area to read or write.
Functional design is an approach to home decor that seeks to combine style with practicality. By utilizing practical elements that offer both visual appeal and functionality, functional design allows for maximum efficiency in small spaces. In 2023, functional design can be especially useful in creating multipurpose spaces.
Functional design can be applied in a variety of ways. Some examples include:
Perhaps stemming from the "romanticize your life" trend, people are leaning toward adding comfort, pleasure, or opulence in their day-to-day lives in 2023.
Everyday luxury is about so much more than spending big on luxe accents. It's also about making your home a sanctuary and creating spaces for self-care. If you're ready to turn your home into a space that feels like a vacation, this is the trend for you. For the perfect example, see how we turned a bedroom into an at-home retreat here.
We're coming back together in 2023 and focusing on design ready for hosting. The gathering trend for interior design in 2023 is about creating dedicated spaces for people to come together, socialize, and reconnect. Conversation pits, circular seating, and oversized sofas with cozy pillows are becoming increasingly popular as they create an intimate and convivial atmosphere.
To implement this trend, create more interactive spaces within your home. Ultimately, the goal is to create a space that encourages meaningful and lasting connections between family and friends.
Organic materials such as wool, cotton, silk, rattan, and clay in earth tones and warm neutrals will trend for home decor in 2023. Incorporate natural elements into your home by focusing on furniture crafted from light or mid-toned woods and accent your spaces with natural pillows crafted in wool, silk, or cotton.
Stone finishes such as travertine, marble, granite, soapstone, and limestone are also popular, as well as handcrafted ceramics and pottery, artisanal clay vases, stoneware, and dinnerware.
Design influences from the Roaring 20s all the way to the 90s are back in rotation, with a heavy focus on design styles from the 60s and 70s. Incorporating vintage furniture, heirloom accessories, and art from different decades can create a space that is both timeless and unique.
For a modern twist on a classic design, try mixing and matching modern pieces with handmade ones for a decidedly up-to-date interpretation of this trend.
More than ever, people are focused on the sustainability of the products they purchase, and interior design is no different. Focus on choosing long-lasting materials that are environmentally friendly. By centering craftsmanship and ethically sourced materials, you can not only invest in beautifully made home decor, but you can also ensure that your purchase is one you'll feel good about for years to come.
Though we believe most of these 2023 design trends are here to stay, something that never goes out of style is sustainability. Everand is committed to creating beautiful, socially responsible decor that lasts.

When speaking with Liz, the COO at Humble Design Chicago, we were moved by her connection to their mission - the idea that people should feel safe in their home and how important it is for a home to feel like a sanctuary. For Liz, the Humble Design community has made her feel more connected to the city of Chicago than she ever felt, even though she is a lifelong resident. Through her work, she has become more aware and understanding of the population they serve and more passionate about the communities they live in.
When Liz shared with us the story of Elvia and her son, we knew that Humble Design Chicago was the perfect partner for us to support this International Women's Day - truly giving meaning to our mission pillows with purpose.
Elvia started her journey in Venezuela, walking and bussing across 7 countries, leaving the abusive father of her child at 3 months pregnant. She arrived in the U.S. 6 months pregnant and with COVID. In January 2022, Humble Design created a place for her belongings and new beginnings that Elvia and her son can now call home.
With women’s empowerment at the heart of our purpose, we are teaming up with Humble Design Chicago this International Women’s Day to support women transitioning out of homelessness as they get a fresh start in their new home. From March 1st - 12th, 2023 Everand will donate 1 pillow for every pillow sold to help Humble Design Chicago create homes where families can find peace, strength, and hope.
]]>How many pillows do I need for my large sofa is a question we get asked frequently. While there are endless ways to mix and match throw pillows, there are some general guidelines we follow to achieve the look of a perfectly styled sofa. We love using all of the unique Everand textiles for the refugee women they support. Their work as a seamstress allows them to generate a sustainable income and thrive as individuals as they rebuild their lives in Chicago.
Here we’re going to share some pillow combinations to help you get a designer look on your own.
Begin with your biggest pillows first. We use 22"x22" pillows for each end. There are no rules for this - some like these to match and others go for a more eclectic look using different patterns. Just do whatever feels right to you!
Create layers by adding smaller square 20"x20" pillows to each corner. We love the look of mixing various patterns and textures such as florals, stripes and wool.
Finish the look with a rectangle lumbar accent pillow. Adding a different shape will add dimension to your sofa. We usually place it on one of the ends, but a larger lumbar can also be added to the center if you have a longer sofa.
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed right now, here the answers to the 3 most frequently asked questions when it comes to styling pillows on a large couch.
We're hoping the diagrams below will help you answer all three and leave you feeling like a pillow pro!
Now it's time for you to start shopping from our unique and beautiful assortment of artisan made pillows for your sofa. You can browse all pillows here or shop by collection where we offer curated assortments based on style.
Are you still feeling slightly confused? We totally get it! That's why we offer free pillow e-styling to help you get exactly what you're looking for.

Here we’re going to share some pillow formulas to help you get the look of a pro yourself.
Begin with your biggest pillows first. We use 22"x22" pillows for the 3 corners. They do not need to match, but this is a great place to establish your color palette.
Create layers by adding square 20"x20" pillows to each corner. Have fun mixing patterns and textures, as well as playing with the scale of each print.
A lumbar is the perfect pillow to complete your look and add dimension using a different shape. We often use 1 in the center corner, but feel free to add more to the ends if you have a longer sectional.
If you’re still confused, we have here the answers to the 3 most frequently asked questions when it comes to styling pillows on a sectional couch.
Hopefully, the diagrams below will help you answer all three and send you on your way to pillow nirvana!

Pillows are always an easy way to update your decor. Tons of rust and terracotta tones mixed together with olive green will bring the spirit of the season to your home. Don’t be afraid to buy these heirloom quality decor pieces because small updates like pillows can be styled and restyled throughout your home all year long.
We love to use greenery in our homes but opt for ones that don’t scream “Christmas”. There are so many great finds that will carry you from Thanksgiving and beyond New Years Day; like dried flowers, branches, eucalyptus and magnolia leaves. Our plant pouches are the perfect cozy container to add this festive touch.
Prep your rooms for all the fun and festive holiday gatherings. Cocktails sure do set the mood (and we love these merry suggestions by Tieghan Gerard of Half-Baked Harvest) so make sure to stock your home with plenty of coasters for when company arrives! The perfect happy hour companion, these coasters are handcrafted using artisan made fabrics and sewn by refugee women in Chicago - no two are alike!

Today we're sharing a roundup of our favorite pillows so you can easily add your favorites into your existing decor.
An earth inspired tone in a modern plaid pattern.
Stripes and intricate patterns add interest.
Woven details handmade by artisans in India.
Earthy shades rooted in natural creams and browns.
Swapping out a few pillows is a great way to update your home for the season, and a chance to add a few pieces of socially-responsible decor to your space. Your Everand® pillows will directly have a positive impact on the life of the refugee woman seamstress who sewed it, which we believe is something worth making a purchase for.
The technique for each of these pillows is a generations-old one, passed down from artisans in the Bhujodi village in India. The weavers, called Vankars, use a method dating back nearly 500 years. The skill and patience needed to weave these throws leaves us in awe.
Equally significant as the technique itself is the vibrant colored threads these textiles are known for. They are individually dyed using all natural materials and then hand-spun. Color variation is not only to be expected but something we have grown to love. The intensity of the natural dyes and even the season in which they are created can change vibrancy between orders. It serves as a reminder that every piece is a unique, with no two exactly alike.
We are lucky enough to showcase such beautiful craftsmanship in Everand’s own Indian blanket pillows. The intricacy of each textile makes every pillow a work of art, no matter how you choose to style it. Whether it be as a decorative pillow on your bed, or the perfect accent for your living room, these artisan pieces will add depth and beauty to any space.
]]>We usually think of fashion when we say Fall layers but our homes also need layers - and the quickest way to do this is by updating your pillows! We love to mix and match pillows in an earthy color palette to set the tone for the season ahead.
Dried blooms, like hydrangeas or branches, are the perfect way to bring the outdoors inside. You can spend 20 minutes in your backyard and you won’t believe the fall bounty you can forage and the impact it makes in setting the mood in your home.
Fall nights can be crisp and there is nothing better when the weather is cool than staying cozy under a throw blanket. Bonus: they also add instant texture to your decor! You can layer one of our Indigo throw blankets on a couch or toss it over the side of a basket for the perfect cozy, yet stylish refresh.
These 3 simple refreshes can give your space a whole new look and change how you feel about any room in your home. And, when you decorate with Everand® you are changing the life of a refugee women in Chicago.
Read more about the many (many!) different reasons to add accent pillows to any chair in your home.
]]>This really depends on the size of the chair, specifically the depth. A big oversized armchair can usually handle 2 pillows, a larger square one in back with a smaller one in front. A single pillow is also a great choice, most of our square and medium lumbars will do the trick!
We strongly believe there are no set rules to pillow styling and what you choose to do should be based on your personal preference. Here the designer chose to mix and match our Shibori pillow with a neutral square, while Hogan Kelly Design used a matching set of Sage Grey Floral Bloom Medium Lumbars to tie the room together.
Pairing your pillow with a cozy throw can make your chair even more comfortable and inviting. It can also add dimension to a matching set of pillows and chairs.
Dining room chairs are a great place to add an unexpected pop of pattern and color using throw pillows. A soft pillow can also make your dining chair a more comfortable place to relax and chat after your meal is done.
A chair with throw pillows can create an inviting corner or seat by the fire. You can even try putting a couple of pillows in a basket to add to your decor - then use them to switch the look on the chair when you're ready for a change!
Adding an Everand® pillow to your home means that your purchase was sourced sustainably and authentically and then sewn by refugee women in Chicago. We strive to bring you unique and beautiful accents while supporting a bigger dream for those women who are rebuilding their lives in the United States.

Spending time on our homes reminds us how it is essential to surround ourselves with products that make us feel good. Color is key here, with pillow covers that enhance our wellbeing via calming palettes and patterns. As always, your Everand® purchase will directly have a positive impact on the life of the refugee woman seamstress who sewed your pillow - and that's something we always feel good about.
On a personal level, this moment recalls our own family history. Our Great Grandma Rose Zall fled to the United States from Minsk when she was just a teenager fearing religious persecution. At 14 years old, she made the journey alone to New York City, where she worked as a seamstress in a sweatshop. As a young immigrant woman on her own, she was able to build a new life because she found viable work to support herself. She carried this experience with her, always believing in the value of meaningful work, and caring deeply about the rights of workers to be treated with dignity and respect. We are moved by how much her story speaks to Everand’s mission, and in this way, we are grateful to be able to continue her legacy.
Refugee women from all backgrounds suffer the shared experience of being forced to leave their homes to seek safety and peace abroad. Crucially, they also share common strengths: courage, resilience, and adaptability to be able to rebuild their lives. At Everand, we have the privilege of working with such remarkable women every day through our partnership with RefugeeOne. These women have escaped similar crises in their home countries, and have resettled here to find safety, community, independence, and self-supporting work.
We can think of no better way to commemorate this International Women’s Day than by paying tribute to women like our Great Grandma Rose. Therefore, in her honor — and in honor of the countless women like her — we are making a donation for every order this March to HIAS. HIAS is a long-standing organization that aids and protects refugees, and Rose turned to them years ago to find her family members when she settled here. They are currently providing help and support to Ukrainian refugees seeking resettlement. We invite you to join in this tribute, and as always, we appreciate your support.
With countless places to buy your gifts, we strongly encourage you to shop small and bring more of your holiday shopping to small businesses. Your choices will help local communities thrive and while investing in the lives of others. We believe that is something we can all feel good about.
Wishing you all the best during this beautiful season!

Fall is here which means it's just the right time to start thinking about all the ways we can bundle up and make our home more cozy. One of our favorite ways to do this is adding Everand's Sherpa Throw Blankets to your space. Sourced ethically from remote villages around the world, traditional textiles are sewn into beautiful throw blankets that match your boho chic style. They are super soft, warm, and made from quality woven material - trust us, we've got you covered this season.

We’ve spent a lot of time perfecting our casual and perfectly effortless (wink, wink) looking corner throw and we think it’s definitely worth it! Layer your pillows over the throw to instantly add more pattern and texture.
Not only does this add tons of interest to your accent chair, but also makes it way more inviting to enjoy a cup of coffee (or an evening glass of wine!) and a good read.
When it’s time to store your throw away, layer it effortlessly over the side of a basket for that perfect lived-in, laid-back look that's both functional and pretty.
We love to use our throw blanket for decoration and to add texture to a perfectly styled bed. Try layering it over a larger bed blanket, quilt or bedspread to anchor your look.
If the arm of your sofa is the first thing you see when you enter the room, this will work wonders for you. It will immediately catch your attention, adding an instant pop of color and texture. The same thing applies to the back of your sofa if that’s the first thing you see when you enter your room.
We hoped this sparked your interest in adding one of our Sherpa Throw Blankets to your home.

All Everand products are hand-sewn by refugee women in Chicago who have come here to create a new life. We source materials authentically and sustainably in small batches from global creators. It’s a chain of meaningful, positive change from around the globe that you can share with all the special people in your life.
The Hmong people are known for their skill in batik, which is a wax resistant dye technique. The gorgeous patterns are hand drawn onto hemp with melted wax and then dyed to create a pattern. The magic of the batik process is that the wax marks resist the color when they are dipped into the dye. The textiles become so gorgeous when they are drenched in natural color, leaving an imprint from the artisan who made it. The batik craft is wonderfully slow, and there is incredible beauty that goes beyond the finished product when you see the process used to make it.
Our Amber Striped Hemp pillow features a simple, yet classic stripe painted directly onto the hemp, however if you take a look at our Vintage Grey Batik pillow you can see that patterns can also be incredibly intricate.
Perfectly imperfect. This sums up why we are SO in love with textiles that are made entirely by hand. Less machines and more investment in people with a true focus on preserving artisan craft. When you purchase our products that are handmade by artisans, you not only invest in your home but also in supporting the lives of others.
Thank you for continuing to use your purchasing power for good!
Judith Cing was forced to leave Myanmar to escape living under military regime rule. She left with her husband hoping to rebuild their life in the USA. The journey she made was in search of safety and freedom, but that doesn’t make it easy. Starting a new life, in a new country, with a new language is incredibly difficult, and you don’t choose to do that unless you have been through incredible trauma and devastation.
Judith started sewing pillows for Everand® very early on in our journey and immediately became our go-to seamstress. We adore working with her, and so value the exquisite work she does. We interviewed Judith, with the help of an interpreter, hoping to give you a small glimpse into her life and truly celebrate the brave and resilient woman she is.
The most important thing is that people in the United States are really helpful. Regardless of your background, whether you’re poor or rich, they have helped me. When I don’t know something, they will patiently explain. That surprised me, how helpful people are.
There’s nothing special I like more than doing my job. Sewing is my favorite, and the rest I just have to do. I’m really happy working with Everand.

Pillows can be so much more than just an accent piece when they come with a powerful story that supports our global community. This one is rooted in one woman's desire to stay meaningfully connected to family and her love of the Indian craft culture she grew up with. We were so inspired that we wanted to share more of that story with you.
]]>So, when we discovered our newest artisan group, Ginger Sparrow, we were immediately drawn to them for so many reasons going beyond the gorgeous textiles they design and the talented artisans they work with. At the top of the list was that their story was rooted in the desire to stay meaningfully connected to family and the founder’s love of Indian craft culture. We were so inspired that we wanted to share more of that story with you.
Sukrit and her mom were both born in India and create beautiful designs inspired by their travels around the country. We share the same belief, that your home can be a collection of precious things inspired by our global community with meaningful stories behind each object. The block print patterns and woven textiles they design bring their journey around India into your home and are inspired by the distinct culture, style and symbolism that is passed down from generations through Indian artisan craftsmanship. Each collection is hand-crafted in small batches in a fair trade environment and Ginger Sparrow invests 10% of the proceeds back into the artisan communities to help preserve their craft.
We love to honor the traditions and craftsmanship that goes into making many of our beautiful block prints and cotton weaves. A pillow can be so much more than just an accent piece when they come with powerful stories like this that support our global community.
