The story of batiks not only preserves the ancient craft of pouring hot wax onto a cloth to create geometric patterns, but also empowers women artisans who are able to use their art to make a sustainable income and support themselves and their families.

This pillow was handmade by a refugee woman who has resettled in Chicago. By partnering with RefugeeOne’s vocational sewing program, we are able to provide graduates with meaningful employment and a living wage to rebuild their lives.

• This pillow is made from vintage fabric so pattern nuances should be expected.  Minor imperfections, or signs of age, are an inherent part of our handmade textiles and add to the originality of the piece.
