BAOULE TEXTILES

Baoule (pronounced ba-oo-lay) textiles from the Côte d'Ivoire in Western Africa are handmade from colorful cotton threads. The entire process of making Baoule is traditionally done by hand, mostly by women. Each strip is sewn together to create a larger piece of fabric that is often worn at community gatherings.
